LIONS MAINTAIN CONTROL IN THEIR MATCH AGAINST THE WARRIORS

The DP World Lions extended their lead over the Dafabet Warriors after they reached 100/2 at tea on the second day of their CSA 4-Day Series match against the Dafabet Warriors at the DP World Wanderers on Friday.

The Lions lead the Warriors by 297 runs with eight wickets on the board. The visitors registered a 291-run first innings score after choosing to bat first. They turned around and bowled out the Warriors for 94 in a single session. The home side had Muhammad Manack(37*) and Zubayr Hamza (1*) at the crease at the interval.

The Lions kicked off their second innings with a 30-run opening partnership between Dominic Hendricks and Joshua Richards. Hendricks was the hero for the home side with a valiant 89 as they were bowled for a relatively low score. However, the Lions captain was unable to replicate that performance. He was dismissed for a 27-ball 17.

Richards closed the hole left by his captain's departure. He shared a 64-run second wicket partnership with Muhammad Manack. The 25-year-old appeared to be motoring towards his 11th first-class half-century, however, his march was halted by Ethan Frosler. Richards was six runs shy of the milestone when he was undone by the 22-year-old medium pacer.

Ethan Frosler and Siya Plaatjie were the Warriors' wicket-takers in the post-lunch session. Frosler took one for 12 in four overs and Plaatjie had one for 23 in six overs.
