WWE’s kingmaker event of the year Hell in a Cell, ushered in new champions this past Sunday (Monday in South Africa), showcased through WWE's virtual fan viewing experience, the WWE ThunderDome.

Drew McIntyre waved goodbye to his WWE Championship title after losing it to rival Randy Orton. After an action-packed match, Orton cut open the chain that had locked the Cell and tried to leave. The two superstars began to descend by climbing down the cell. Eventually Orton started to beat on McIntyre, who fell from the cell through an announcer's table. Orton managed to drag him back into the ring and after some brutal RKOs from Orton and Claymore from McIntyre, Orton hit a final RKO on the former champ and became a 14-time WWE World Champion.

Another Superstar who lost their Championship title was Bayley. Former best friends, Bayley and Sasha Banks went head-to-head for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship. Bayley had retained her title since last year and eventually lost it to The Boss who won the title for the first time. This was a long match, with a lot of back-and-forth, but Banks defeated the former champ by hitting her with her signature move, the Banks Statement which involved a chair around Bayley's neck.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom as other Superstars managed to retain their titles on the night. During the pre-show, R-Truth defended the WWE 24/7 Championship against Drew Gulak, while Roman Reigns alongside Paul Heyman defeated Jey Uso for the WWE Universal Championship during the main show. Bobby Lashley defeated Slapjack in a singles match for the WWE United States Championship, retaining his title.

Other matches of the night included Elias who defeated Jeff Hardy by disqualification in a singles match and The Miz alongside John Morrison defeated Ottis and Tucker in a singles match for the Money in the Bank contract.
