George Linde registered his highest first-class score as WSB Western Province surged to a first-innings score of 464 on the second morning of their CSA 4-Day Series match against the Dafabet Warriors at WSB Newlands on Friday.

Western Province had the best of the morning session, adding 120 runs for three wickets in the morning session. The hosts had been bowled out at the lunch break and the Lions will kick off the post-lunch period with the bat.

Linde was unbeaten on 128 when the umpires called time on proceedings on day one. The allrounder added 24 runs to his tally to reach 152. The 32-year-old came into this match with a career-best first-class score of 148. He outdid that by helping Western Province take control of the match.

Linde fell after the Warriors successfully set a trap for him. The home side arrived at the crease intent on pushing the game forward and not allowing the Warriors' bowling attack to settle. Matthew Breetzke and Siya Plaatjie hatched a plan that asked Linde to play the ramp shot. The allrounder obliged and was caught by Suneran at deep third, stationed there for that shot.

Linde's century created a solid platform for the tail to come in and play their shots. Dane Paterson and Beuran Hendricks added 42 runs in 11 overs for the ninth wicket, before Paterson and Mthiwekhaya Nabe's 10th-wicket partnership another 42 runs in 9.5 overs.

Beyers Swanepoel was the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors in the innings. He took three wickets for 90 runs in 22 overs. Duanne Olivier and Siya Plaatjie finished with a brace of wickets each, while Jason Raubenheimer, Senuran Muthusamy and Matthew Breetzke bagged a single wicket each.
