The busy weekend has arrived for the Western Province in the CSA One-Day Cup campaign.

Rounds six and seven will see the Newlands-based side travelling to Pretoria for a clash against the Momentum Multiply Titans on Friday 20 October 2023 at SuperSport Park at 13:00.

Meanwhile, on Sunday 22 October 2023, Province will welcome their neighbours Gbets Rocks at Newlands Cricket Ground for the Cape Derby that is set to start at 10:00.

The team is currently sitting on top of the log with 20 points having played five matches.

Province vice-captain Beuran Hendricks has shared how the team training went this week ahead of the two big matches.

"Preparation for the week has been really good. I think after the Dolphins game, guys have gotten some time off just to refresh the bodies and we understand that it's a big weekend coming up for us in the context of the competition," said Hendricks.

"So preparation has been really focused, making sure that we tick over on skills, tighten up anywhere that we feel needs some

improvement.

"It's been a really good week where everybody's chipped in to make sure that focus has been on the weekend and we want to be in a good position to keep the momentum that we have in the competition."

With the side's current form in the campaign, Hendricks says the team is not looking far ahead but taking one match at a time.

"The team's in a really good mood. The momentum that we've built up in the competition has really given us some good confidence, but we're not looking too far ahead," he said.

"We do understand that the two games ahead could put us in a good position to get to the final and possibly have a home final if we grab both wins.

"But we are not looking too far ahead. We just want to make sure that we keep improving our skills and we hit one game at a time, making sure that we focus on the opposition that's up next.

Hendricks has also encouraged the Province faithful to come to the stadiums in numbers on Sunday as the entry has been made free against the Rocks.

“I think the supporters of Western Province will really enjoy the cricket we’ve been playing. It's been a good couple of weeks for the team and since our last home game we've had really good support off the field," he adds.

"I just want to encourage all the supporters of Western Province Cricket to come in with your families, come and enjoy the day and watch the team push for a final."
