Like many youngsters with big dreams, Thulani "Touch" Mabaso, the captain of Kaizer Chiefs' DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team, aspires to one day lead the renowned South African football club.

"It's every kid's dream to lead Amakhosi. Being the captain of the first team is something I hope to achieve," said the ambitious Mabaso.

Mabaso was part of Chiefs' first team during their pre-season in July, which included a training camp in the Netherlands. He expressed his eagerness for his first-team debut.

"The players in the first team are doing well, and I trust that my opportunity will come. For now, I need to support those who are performing and continue to work hard. When the time is right, I know I'll get my chance," Mabaso explained.

The midfielder has taken on a leadership role, exemplifying dedication and skill on the field. Last season, he played a crucial part in Amakhosi's historic achievement of winning their first DDC title with a record of 70 points. As the new campaign unfolds, he continues to make significant contributions.

During Amakhosi's UK Tour, which began in Manchester and will wrap up in London on Sunday, Mabasa has proven to be a true leader both on and off the field. In the two games played thus far during the tour, he has impressively scored two goals.

"We came here to compete, and so far, I'm pleased with how we've worked together as a team. Every game has presented its challenges, and we're eager to face our final match against Queens Park Rangers."

Mabaso added, "Personally, my dedication and the ambitious goals I have inspire me to constantly improve on the field. I believe that if I keep striving, knocking, the doors will open."

Mabaso acknowledged that the season's start in the Diski Challenge was less than ideal, but he made a heartfelt commitment to fight relentlessly in pursuit of history by becoming the first team to defend the DDC title.

"Winning our last match against QPR will be monumental," he said. "It would provide us with the motivation we need; if we can triumph over international teams, it proves we have the capability to return home and defend our title."

He noted, "If you look at our last four league matches, we played commendable football and found the back of the net consistently. We simply need to build on that performance as we strive to defend our title. The timing of this trip, occurring mid-season, is advantageous; it offers us the much-needed motivation."

Amakhosi will wrap up their tour with a match against Queens Park Rangers at the TSG Elite Training & Performance Centre this Saturday at 1pm.
