Changes continue at Stellenbosch

A new look Stellenbosch is beginning to take shape under new coach Gavin Hunt with right back Turan Manafov going back to his native Azerbaijan on loan.

The 27-year-old was bought at the beginning of the season to challenge Kazie Enninaya for the position that had been vacated by former captain Dean van Rooyen but he leaves after only six months for Qabala FC.

A statement from Stellenbosch said it was for “a season-long loan” but the season in Azerbaijan is already hallway complete.

Midfielder Andre de Jong has already departed Stellenbosch for Orlando Pirates while the Winelands club have signed Wayde Jootse, who played his first game in some six months on Tuesday when they beat Sekhukhune United, and Mosa Lebusa, whose contract at Mamelodi Sundown was ended.

Stellenbosch have also taken Tshegofasto Mabasa from Pirates and Kobamelo Kodisang from Sundowns on loan for the rest of the season.

Stellenbosch play on Sunday in the African Confederation Cup against Chabab Belouizdad of Algeria.
