The second round of the MTN Super League in Zambia will be played this weekend, but there will again be no fixtures for league champions Red Arrows and Zesco United as they fly the country’s flag in CAF club competition.

Instead, the likes of Zanaco, Forest Rangers and Nchanga Rangers will look to build on their solid start to the campaign last week when they opened with victories.

Zanaco meet Forest Rangers on Sunday in the pick of the weekend’s clashes in a fixture that has largely been dominated by the former, who have 15 league wins to just five for Forest Rangers in the previous 32 meetings.

There have also been 12 draws, including both games last season that ended 1-1.

Green Buffaloes take on Indeni in the earlier kick-off on Sunday, a fixture they won 5-0 when they last hosted their opponents in 2021. Indeni have a single victory in eight at Buffaloes and none away from home.

Nkana FC go to Mutondo Stars having been held to a goalless draw by Lumwana Radiants last weekend. Four of Nkana’s last six league games have now finished 0-0.

Both these teams won at home when they met last season.

Newly promoted Atletico Lusaka got a rude awakening to life in the topflight last week as they lost 3-1 at Forest Rangers but will hope home comforts prove a tonic when they host NAPSA Stars, who did not play.

FC Muza were the biggest losers on the opening weekend as they went down 3-0 to Nchanga Rangers but have the chance to secure their first points when they host Mufulira Wanderers on Saturday, who were also defeated on the opening day.

Muza now have a single point from five games in what was a poor end to last season and a bad start to this one. They did win both fixtures against Wanderers last season though.

Nchanga Rangers will want to follow-up their opening weekend success with another win as they head to Kabwe Warriors, a side who don’t lose many at home.

Green Eagles are at Lumwana Radiants in the other game on Saturday.
