FOOTBALL - CAF Champions League

The CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers 2023 will be played in Durban from August 30 to September 8, where the battle for the title of regional kings will be fought once more. All matches live on SuperSport.

There will be eight clubs competing this year, split into two groups of four. They will meet in a round-robin format, earning three points for a win and one for a draw.

The top two sides in each pool advance to the semifinals, with the winner of Group A facing the runner-up in Group B, and vice-versa. This year will see a record number of entrants with seven teams competing in 2021 and six in 2022.

The regional champions will qualify for November's inaugural CAF Women's Champions League finals in Ivory Coast.

CRICKET - Proteas women to the fore

South Africa’s women will create new history and break down even more barriers in the rise of the women’s game when they take on a six-match visit to Pakistan. It is the Momentum Proteas first tour to the country.

SA have dominated their ODI encounters with Pakistan over the years winning 19 out of 25 ODIs while the T20Is have been much closer with SA edging the victory count 10-8 including one-off encounters in World Cups and Triangulars.

Three T20s, from September 1-5, will be followed by three ODIs between 8-14, all played at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Following this tour, the Proteas will welcome New Zealand for three ODIs and five T20s. South Africa are currently ranked third in ODIs and New Zealand fifth, and both teams will look to improve their world rankings. This will be Proteas first home series since the T20 World Cup earlier in the year.
