Those who watched Salah struggle in his early days at Chelsea would never have said he would go on to become one of the finest forwards the Premier League has seen.

He joined the Stamford Bridge club from Swiss side Basel for around £11-million ahead of the 2013/14 season, but was labelled a flop having failed to impress, and it was only after successful loan spells at Serie A sides Fiorentina and Roma that he rebuilt his reputation.

There were still some eyebrows raised when Liverpool paid a fee rising to £43-million ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, but it is fair to say he has been worth every penny … and more.

He hit the ground running with 32 Premier League goals in his first season as he finished top-scorer in the division and has not looked back.

He netted 19 goals as Liverpool won the 2019/20 title and his two goals in Sunday’s epic 7-0 victory over Manchester United made him The Reds’ most prolific scorer in the Premier League era.

But of course, it is not just his knack of finding the back of the net, he also has 54 assists to take his total goal contributions to 185 in 218 games.

It is an excellent record for someone who usually plays out wide in a front three, with his partnership with Senegal star Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino at its height the best in the Premier League.
