Former Olympic champion Florent Manaudou has pulled out ahead of Saturday's 50m freestyle at the French national swimming championships with a knee injury.
"Tomorrrow (Saturday) I won't be taking part in the 50m freestyle because following the 50m breaststroke Thursday I felt pain in my knee," the four-time Olympic medallist said on Instagram.
"To cure this, nothing other than a short period of rest," the 31-year-old added.
The 2012 Olympic 50m freestyle champion had been set to challenge defending champion Maxime Grousset over the distance in a race that also doubles as qualifiers for the World and European Championships this summer.
Manaudou should still ensure his participation in the two international meetings thanks to his time achieved in the final of the Tokyo Olympics.
