Chauke and Khademi meet for vacant IBO title
South Africa’s Jackson van Tonder Chauke from Tembisa goes in against Quaise Khademi who was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, but now fights out of England, in a bout for the vacant IBO flyweight title at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, on Saturday night.
The 29-year-old Khademi (10-1-2; 4) is not as experienced as Chauke but is best known for his three wars against Ijaz Ahmed when they fought to the one loss on his record and two draws.
However, he has come back in 2023 to win two fights inside the distance.
Khademi, 29, has good head movement and defence, which could make it difficult for the more experienced and older Chauke, who is 38-years-old.
Chauke (23-2-2; 15), who was an outstanding amateur, is vastly more experienced than Khademi, having won the Gauteng WBF International, South African, WBC International, WBO Global and ABU flyweight titles.
Some pundits are predicting an inside-the-distance win for Chauke.
However, his age might catch up with him and he could possibly have to work hard for a points decision.
