John Ryder wins WBA eliminator

John Ryder won on a 12-round split decision against former two-time world middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs, in a WBA super middleweight title eliminator at Alexandra Palace in London on Saturday night.

Jacobs (37-4; 30) was in control through the first six rounds but Ryder (31-5; 17) came back into the fight in the later rounds to win on a narrow decision.

The scores were 115-113 twice for Ryder and 115-113 for Jacobs.

UNDERCARD

Heavyweight Johnny Fisher (5-0; 4) outpointed Gabriel Enguema (10-12; 6) over six rounds. The score was 59-55.

In a middleweight bout Felix Cash (15-0; 10), rated at No. 8 by the WBO and at No. 14 by the IBF, was down twice and had a point deducted, but somehow managed to win a ten-round unanimous points decision over Magomed Madiev (15-1-2; 4) in a bout for the WBC International title. The scores were 95-92 twice and 94-93.Madiev is listed at No. 3 by the WBA.

NOEL GEVOR MIKAELYAN WINS WBC SILVER TITLE

In a cruiserweight fight, Noel Gevor Mikaelyan (26-2; 11) won on a 12-round unanimous points decision against Youri Kayembre Kalenga (27-7; 20) to take the WBC silver title on Saturday night at Studio 69 in Riga, Latvia. The scores were 118-110, 119-109 and 117-111. Texas middleweight Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams 10-0’ 7 won on a sixth-round stoppage against Javier Francisco Maciel (33-16; 23).

Junior featherweight Hopey Price (7-0; 2) won on a fourth-round technical knockout over Ricardo Roman (14-13-3; 5).

In a female bout junior featherweight Ellie Scotney (4-0; 0) beat Jorgelina Guanini (9-4-2; 1) on points over ten rounds for the WBA International title. The scores were 96-94 twice and 95-94.

DANNY DIGNUM RETAINS WBO EURO BELT

No. 4 rated WBO middleweight Danny Dignum (14-0-1; 8) retained the WBO Euro title with a sixth-round knockout over Grant Dennis (17-4; 3) on Friday night at the York Hall in London. Dennis was down in the third round and in round six. The time was 2:31.

Lee McGregor (11-0-1; 9); who is rated at IBF No.3, WBA No. 6 and WBO No. 11 bantamweight; and Diego Alberto Ruiz (24-3-1; 12) fought to a ten-round draw in a junior featherweight contest.

Super middleweight journeyman Lewis van Poetsch (9-138-2; 2) lost on points over four rounds against Joe Giles 2-0; 0. The score was 40-36.

WBA CHAMPION ROGER GUTIERREZ TESTED POSITIVE

The WBA junior lightweight champion Roger Gutierrez has tested positive for Covid-19 and his scheduled defence against Chris Colbert on 26 February in Las Vegas is now in jeopardy.
