Vincenzo Gualtiera wins IBF middleweight title

Vincenzo Gualtieri from Wuppertal, Nordrein-Westfalen, Germany, outscored former Olympian silver medallist Esquiva Falcao of Brazil to claim the vacant IBF middleweight title, which had been vacated by Genady Golovkin, on Saturday night at the Unihalle in Wuppertal, Germany.

The scores were 117-109 and 116-110 twice.

Gualtieri scored a knockdown in the second round and stunned Falcao in the fifth round as Falcao barely managed to stay on his feet.

In the seventh round Falcao was sent to the canvas with a low blow where the referee began to count him out, but then realised it was a low blow and Falcao was given five minutes to recover.

Gualtieri scored another knockdown in the tenth round and finished a deserved winner.

On the same card Etinosa “Chapo” Oliha (18-0; 8) from Italy won the vacant IBO middleweight title with a unanimous 12-round points decision over Julio Alamos (16-1; 9) from Chile.

The scores were 116-112 and 115-113 twice.

KENTA NAKAGAWA RETAINS WBO ASIA PACIFIC TITLE

The 37-year-old southpaw Kenta Nakagawa (24-4-1; 12) retained his WBO Asia Pacific junior bantamweight title on a 12-round unanimous points decision against Joe Shiraishi

(11-1-1; 6) with scores of 117-111, 116-112, and 115-113, on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan.

On the same card Jukiya Iimura (4-1; 1) beat the defending Japanese flyweight champion Josuke Nagata (5-1; 0) on a close ten-round majority points decision.

The scores were 96-94 twice and 95-95.

JARED ANDERSON GOES THE DISTANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME

The WBO No 7, WBA No 8 and WBC No 9 heavyweight, Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson (15-0; 14) went the distance for the first time when he outpointed former IBF heavyweight champion “Prince” Charles Martin (29-4-1; 26) on Saturday night at the Huntington Centre in Toledo, Ohio.

Anderson dropped Martin in the third round, who had taken the bout on 12 days’ notice.

The scores were 98-91 and 99-90 twice.

ARSLANBEK MAKHMUDOV WINS IN THREE ROUNDS

The WBC and WBA No 5 rated heavyweight Arslanbek “The Lion” Makhmudov (17-0; 16) smashed the taller Raphael Akpejiori (15-1; 14) to defeat in three rounds on Saturday night at the Huntington Centre in Toledo, Ohio to retain the NABF heavyweight title.

Makhmudov scored two knockdowns in the opening round. .

The bout was halted after a third knockdown in round three.

Time was 1:43.

On the undercard in a lightweight bout the 19-year-old southpaw Abdullah Mason (9-0; 8) won on a second-round knockout over Alex de Oliveira (20-5; 14). The time was 2:18.

Junior welterweight Tiger Johnson (9-0; 5) won on points over eight rounds against Jonathan Montrel (15-2; 10).

Dante Benjamin Jr. (7-0; 5) won on a first-round technical knockout over Mirady Zola (4-3; 1).

The time was 1:56.

Super middleweight DeAndre Ware (16-4-2; 9) scored a six-round unanimous points decision with scores of 58-56, 59-55, 59-55 over Decarlo Perez (19-1, 6).

In a junior middleweight bout Rance Ward beat Husam Al Mashhadi on a majority six-round points decision.

In a junior lightweight contest Tyler McCreary (18-2-1; 8) won on points over six rounds against Deivi Julio (26-14; 16).

The scores were 59-54 and 57-56 twice.

SAVANNAH MARSHALL WINS UNDISPUTED TITLE

In a woman’s bout former WBO middleweight champion Savannah Marshall (13-1; 10) beat the undisputed super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn (8-2; 2) on points over ten rounds in Manchester, England on Saturday night.

Scores were 95-95, 99-92, 97-92.

Unified junior middleweight world champion Natasha Jonas (14-2-1; 9) stopped Kandi Wyatt (11-5; 3) in the eighth round.

DALTON SMITH WINS BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH TITLES

Junior welterweight lightweight Dalton “Thunder” Smith (15-0; 11) won on a seventh-round knockout against Sam Maxwell (17-2; 11) on Saturday night at Sheffield, England’s Utilita Arena to claim the British and Commonwealth titles.

Time was 1:34.

CLARIBEL MENA WINS WBA FEDELATIN TITLE

Female Dominican boxer Claribel Mena (11-1; 7) won the WBA Fedelatin junior middleweight title on a third-round technical knockout against Colombian Paulina Cardona (25-29-7; 11) at the Mauricio Baez Club in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on Saturday night.

Flyweight Norberto Jimenez (32-10-6; 17) won on a third-round knockout against Venezuelan Gilbert Gonzalez (18-6-1; 13).

In a woman’s lightweight bout Vivian Rodriguez (4-0) won on points over eight rounds against Dyana Vargas (16-1; 10).

Lightweight Misael Vazquez (13-4-1; 11) fought to a draw over six rounds against Kaipos Gallegos (1-0; 1).

GUSTAVO PEREZ WINS OVER TEN ROUNDS

Flyweight Gustavo “Smiley” Perez (11-1; 2) from Ensenada, Mexico won on points over ten rounds against fellow countryman Carlos Zaleta (11-2; 7) on Friday night at the Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno in Tijuana, Baja California,

The scores were 100-90 and 99-91 twice.
