Joe Joyce won the interim WBO heavyweight title when he stopped former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker in the 11th round on Saturday night at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.
Joyce came out fast in the opening round and used his jab throughout, which left Parker’s face damaged and puffy.
Parker never really got into the fight and was only able to land the rare scoring punch.
In the 11th round, Joyce sent Parker down with a big left hook as he failed to beat the count. The time was 1:03.
Joyce improved his record to 15-0; 14 and Parker’s record dropped to 30-3; 21
On the undercard, WBC/WBO female featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (43-2-1; 30) added the IBF title to her collection with a one-sided 10-round unanimous points decision over Sarah Mahfoud (11-1; 3).
The scores were 99-92 and 97-93 twice.
ARIAS WINS VACANT WBC INTERNATION SILVER TITLE
In what was considered an upset, Isaac Arias (11-0; 9) from Venezuela won the vacant WBC International silver junior bantamweight title on a majority 10-round points decision over Dewayne Beamon (21-5-2; 15) on Saturday night at the Coliseo Elias Chegwin, in Barranquilla, Colombia.
In a closely-fought encounter, Arias won on two cards with scores of 96-94 twice and the third judge had it 95-95.
HUGHES RETAINS IBO BELT
In a lightweight bout, Maxi Hughes (26-5-2, 5) scored a 12-round majority points decision over former IBF featherweight champion Kid Galahad (28-3; 17) to retain the IBO belt on Saturday night at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, England.
There was very little in it through 12 closely-fought rounds with scores of 116-111, 114-113 and 114-114.
HARPER WINS WBA JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT BELT
Former female junior lightweight champion Terri Harper (13-1-1;6) moved up three weight divisions to win the WBA junior middleweight belt against Hannah Rankin (12-6; 3).
The scores were 98-92 twice and 97-93.
In a heavyweight bout, Solomon Dacres (5-0; 1) won on points over 10 rounds against Ariel Esteban Bracamonte (11-10; 6). All three judges scored it 99-90.
