WBC junior flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji and WBA super champion Hiroto Kyoguchi, both from Japan, meet in an eagerly awaited unification matchup at the Saitama Super Arena on Tuesday.
They met up four times in the amateurs, with Teraji winning three of their fights, and are considered to be the two best junior flyweights in the world.
The 28-year-old Kyoguchi (16-1; 11) goes into the fight as the underdog against the 30-year-old Teraji (19-1; 11).
On the same card, WBO junior flyweight champion Jonathan Gonzalez (26-3-1-1nc; 14) from Puerto Rico defends his belt against Japan’s Shokichi Iwata (9-0; 6).
The winner of this bout hopes to meet the winner of the Teraji v Kyoguchi match in a unification match-up for all three belts.
South Africa’s Sinathi Nontshinga is the IBF junior flyweight champion.
