Sereme made his pro debut in Daveyton, Benoni on 26 July 1974 winning on points over four rounds against Ezekiel Hlatshwayo.
He was trained by one of South Africa’s legendary trainers Job Sebalo at the Blackburn Gym, at the Bapedi Hall in Medowlands, Zone 3.
After winning his next two fights he outpointed Gordon Goba one of the greats of the South African ring, who is one of a select band of boxers who have won two South African titles. He won the junior middleweight and middleweight titles.
Fighting to a draw against Lem Nkune on 9 August 1975 he then lost three in a row against Maxwell Malinga, Gert Craemner and Gert Steyn all on points, quality fighters who won South African titles.
Scoring victories in his next four fights he then captured the Transvaal junior middleweight title by winning on a ten-round point victory over Bobby Chisale.
However, it was downhill from there on when he was stopped in the seventh round by Gregory Clark in Durban in a challenge for the South African junior middleweight title, and in his last fight on 7 September 1985 in a clash for the Transvaal junior middleweight title he lost on a fourth-round technical knockout against Charles Oosthuizen.
