Sebastian Fundora claims WBC interim belt
From the opening bell the fight turned into a complete slugfest.
Fundora scored a knockdown in the second round, but Lubin came back to drop Fundora in the seventh round.
However, Fundora dominated in rounds eight and nine before Lubin’s corner called the fight off at end of the ninth round as he was being punished.
Lubin was ahead on all three judges’ scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
Fundora improved his record to 19-0-1; 13 and Lubin’s record dropped to 24-2; 17.
On the undercard former WBC junior middleweight champion Tony “Superbad” Harrison 29-3-1; 21 outscored Sergio Garcia 33-2; 14 over ten rounds in a WBC title eliminator. The Scores were 98-92 and 100-90 twice.
In another junior middleweight bout Kevin Salgado 14-0-1; 9 and Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella 17-3-2, 14 fought to a ten-round draw. Scores were 97-93 for Perrella, 96-94 for Salgado and 95-95.
SHUICHIRO YOSHINO RETAINS TWO TITLES
WBO No 5 and WBC No 15 rated Shuichiro Yoshino 15-0; 11 retained the OPBF and WBO Asia Pacific lightweight belts on a unanimous eleventh round technical decision against former WBO junior lightweight champion Masayuki Ito 27-4-1; 15, after the fight was stopped when Ito was cut after an accidental clash of heads. The time was at 2:06 into the eleventh round and the scores were 107-102 twice and 106-103. The bout took place Saitama, Japan on Saturday.
SIMONE FEDRICI WINS OVER TEN
In a cruiserweight bout Simone “Tyson” Federici 19-2-1; 8 scored an untidy ten round unanimous points decision against Lyubomyr “Demolition Man” Pinchuk 14-3-1; 8 on Saturday night at the Rivers Casino Event Centre in Schenectady, New York to retain the WBC Continental Americas title and claim the WBA/NABA Gold title. The scores were 97-93 twice and 99-91.
MIKAELA MAYER RETAINS WBO/IBF BELTS
Female WBO and IBF junior lightweight champion Mikaela Mayer 17-0; 5 retained her belts on a unanimous ten round points decision against Jennifer Han 18-5-1; 1 on Saturday night at the Hangar in Costa Mesa, California.
RYAN GARCIA RETURNS TO ACTION WITH A WIN
Lightweight Ryan “KingRy” Garcia 22-0; 18 returned to action after being out for a long time, on Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and scored a unanimous 12 round points decision over Emmanuel “Gameboy” Tagoe 32-2; 15 from Ghana. The scores were 119-108 twice and 118-109.
