Stevenson is now the WBO and WBC junior lightweight champion
In a so-called grudge match that turned into a damp squib, WBO junior lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson scored a one-sided 12-round unanimous points decision over WBC champion Oscar Valdez to now hold two belts, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The scores 118-109 twice and 117-110.
Stevenson dominated from the opening round and scored a flash knockdown in the sixth round.
The double champion was far too skilful as he scored with right hands throughout the fight. Valdez had no answer to the slick and fast-moving Stevenson, who was an easy winner in a disappointing fight that never rose to any heights.
Stevenson improved his record to 18-0; 9 and Valdez’s record dropped to 30-1; 23.
