The highly anticipated Chasing the Sun 2 – A Story for South Africa – will premiere on M-Net and SuperSport on 24 March 2024. The sequel to Chasing the Sun, the award-winning story of the Springboks’ incredible triumph to capture the 2019 Rugby World Cup, will bring to life the awe-inspiring world title defence during the 2023 edition in France.

FIRST FOUR-TIME WINNERS

Chasing the Sun 2 will detail the blood, sweat and sacrifices that formed the Springboks’ triumphant campaign at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which culminated in victory against traditional foe New Zealand’s All Blacks in the final, and becoming the first four-time winners. More than rugby, Chasing the Sun 2 transcends the four corners of the field and touches the hearts of all South Africans and, much like the world champion Springboks, gives hope and inspiration to a country known to triumph against all odds. It’s a story of South Africa’s pride and passion, diversity and determination, of hope and humility, and, ultimately, resilience and perseverance. It’s also a celebration of excellence, of the joy that comes from victory, following years of hard work and unrelenting endeavour.

FIVE THRILLING EPISODES The five-part Chasing the Sun 2 will air on M-Net (DStv channel 101) and on SuperSport Grandstand (DStv channel 201) on Sunday, 24 March 2024. “The Springboks taught us so much about ourselves as South Africans, about believing in ourselves despite the odds and about what can be achieved when we are truly Stronger Together,” said SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha. “To be able to bring the behind-the-scenes action to life for our passionate South African viewers is something we’re unbelievably proud of. If you thought Chasing the Sun was inspiring, Chasing the Sun 2 takes you through the rollercoaster of emotion, which culminates in one of our greatest ever victories, against our greatest ever rugby rival: the All Blacks.”

GIVING BACK TO SA - RASSIE Springbok director of rugby and head coach, Rassie Erasmus, said: “The people of South Africa were a real motivation for us during the World Cup and we really were playing for them. This documentary is one way we can give back to South Africa by sharing our experience from the inside, warts and all. “We cannot wait to give South Africans insight into our journey to winning the title.” Watch the riveting drama unfold as you hear stories from double World Cup-winning Springboks and many more people who made the journey unforgettable. Chasing the Sun 2 is a co-production between SuperSport and SA Rugby, proudly brought to you by Toyota, Betway and Spur.
