Two players were handed a first call-up as Lesotho finalised their squad for a friendly against Togo on Wednesday and their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Soweto against the Comoros Islands at the weekend.
Coach Veselin Jelusic named Mellere Lebetsa and Ngaka Lenka in the 26-man selection that will take on Togo in a friendly at Sturrock Park in Johannesburg on Wednesday and then play their Group H qualifier against Comoros at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Midfielder Tumelo Makha returns to the squad as Lesotho go in search of their first victory in the Cup of Nations preliminaries.
They are bottom of the log with a lone point from four games and eliminated from any chance of a first-ever qualification into the finals.
"We are preparing for the game against Comoros with the intention of playing a good game and getting a good result," Jelusic said.
"We know that the game will be very tough because Comoros still have a chance to qualify for the next Afcon, depending on the result of the game between Zambia and Ivory Coast. In addition, all their players come from European clubs with a high level of quality and competitive experience. But we will fight to the end for the prestige of Lesotho football."
There are two DStv Premiership players in the Likuena squad – Katleho Makateng from Richards Bay and Royal AM’s Motebang Sera – plus South African-born Tshwarelo Bereng, now playing his club football in Eswatini, is in the squad. The 32-year-old was formerly at Moroka Swallows, Chippa United and Black Leopards
