Uganda have trimmed down the preliminary squad named last month for their penultimate Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria on Saturday, as coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevich named 23 for the clash on neutral turf in Douala, Cameroon.
Algeria have already qualified from group F and Uganda, forced to give up home advantage because their stadia have been disqualified for international competition by the Confederation of African Football, are battling for the other berth along with Niger and Tanzania.
Algeria top the group on 12 points, Tanzania and Uganda are tied on four while Niger have two.
Richards Bay goalkeeper Salim Magoola is the only player from a DStv Premiership club but there are another 12 foreign-based players in the squad.
They include Khalid Aucho from Tanzania’s Young Africans, who used to play at Baroka.
Among the home-based players is Moses Waiswa, previously on the books at SuperSport United.
