The Momentum Multiply Titans and Six Gun Grill Western Province saw their final match of the regular CSA One-Day Cup season abandoned less than a quarter of a way through after rain had the final say in Centurion on Sunday.

Only 20 overs were sent down at SuperSport Park where the hosts had reached 110 for two after they lost the toss and were put in to bat first by the visitors.

The players left the field just after 11h30 due to initial drizzle, which developed into a fully blown rainstorm, and never returned.

The wet outfield then gave umpires Lubabalo Gcuma and Ryan Hendricks little option despite the best efforts of ground staff to mop up after the weather had improved.

The Titans had already secured top spot and with it a place in the final after winning five of their previous six matches. They will now meet the Imperial Lions in the title decider later this week.

In their final game, they lost Gihahn Cloete early on when he was cleaned up by Tshepo Moreki (1/29) for four in just the third over.

A 53-run second-wicket stand and 46-run unbroken third-wicket partnership then helped rebuild.

Neil Brand (32*) was involved in both of them, first with Theunis de Bruyn (39) and then with Heinrich Klaasen (32*), the tournament’s leading two run scorers with an aggregate of 378 and 414 runs respectively.

The one other wicket that was claimed by WP was taken by Kyle Simmonds (1/29) as they disappointingly completed an underwhelming 50-over season.

The Cape side ended in fourth place with three wins from their seven games.
