The Standard Bank Proteas start their full-schedule tour of the United Kingdom with three ODIs that do not form part of the World Cup Super League and will provide an opportunity to rest some players and test others.
The T20Is against England and Ireland are the last official games South Africa are scheduled to play before the T20 World Cup and will follow the ODI leg of the tour.
The tour will conclude with three tests.
The Momentum Proteas head into the upcoming ODI series on the back of last week’s retirement of experienced opening batter, Lizelle Lee, who was part of the strong 15-player squad that travelled to the United Kingdom for a multi format tour.
This ODI series offers a great chance to the other players within the national setup to stake a claim for a permanent spotwithin the top-order.
For the men, Rilee Rossouw makes his international comeback and has been included in the T20 squad. He will be joined by 21-year-old speedster, Gerald Coetzee.
Andile Phehlukwayo returns to the white-ball format along with the six players who opted out of the tests against Bangladesh in favour of playing in the IPL earlier this year.
South Africa are sitting second on the World Test Championship points table (with England placed seventh) and the three-test series will be crucial to their chances of qualifying for the final.
