The DP World Lions were crowned champions of the Hollywoodbets Pro50 after a dominant 101-run victory over the Fidelity Titans at DP World Wanderers on Saturday.

Heading into the final round, the Lionesses held a five-point lead over last year’s champions, Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies.

The Dolphins required a significant bonus-point victory and favourable results elsewhere to retain their title, but the Lions ensured there was no room for an upset.

At the interval of the women’s Jukskei derby, Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Hollywoodbets officially unveiled the Hollywoodbets Pro50 trophy, a fitting tribute to the remarkable strides made in women’s cricket.

The Hollywoodbets Pro50 Trophy was designed to embody the spirit of cricket and celebrate a winning streak.

With sleek, dynamic lines and a cricket bat and ball integrated into the form, the trophy elegantly captures the momentum of victory.

The features reflects both precision and strength, honouring the dedication and success required to dominate on the playing field.

Tazmin Brits anchored the Lions’ innings, scoring a superb 118, while Karabo Meso provided solid support with 76.

Their efforts propelled the team to a competitive total of 268 before restricting Titans to 169 runs.

KNIGHTS DOWN BADGERS

Meanwhile, in Bloemfontein, Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers captain Nicolien Janse Van Rensburg delivered a stellar bowling performance, claiming five wickets to restrict the Knights to 215 in just under 50 overs.

Key contributions from Izel Cilliers (47) and Yolandi Potgieter (38), ensured the hosts set a respectable target at Mangaung Oval.

However, a dominant bowling display from Gizelle Janse Van Rensburg (4-17) and Luyanda Nzuza (3-16) ensured the Knights successfully defended their total, dismissing the Badgers for 99 and securing a commanding 116-run victory.

WP OUTPLAY DOLPHINS

In Cape Town, a rain-affected clash at Newlands saw Dolphins set a revised target of 77 in 20 overs against the World Sports Betting Western Province.

Faye Tunnicliffe (44*) and Lara Goodall (31*) comfortably guided the hosts to a 10-wicket victory, wrapping up the chase with ease.

The 2024/25 Pro Series marks the second season since the professionalisation of women’s cricket in the country.

Following the Proteas Women's historic ICC T20 World Cup 2023 final appearance on home soil, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC)’s investment was further bolstered by the addition of Hollywoodbets as the official title sponsor of the league.

The Pro Series final round continues with the Holywoodbets Pro20 on Sunday, with all matches live on CSA’s YouTube Channel.
