Impressive centuries from the bats of Dean Elgar and Rivaldo Moonsamy powered the Momentum Multiply Titans ahead of the Hollywoodbets Dolphins at stumps on day two of their CSA Four Day Series game as they reached the close of play on 360/6 at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Sunday.

Elgar struck a fantastic 149 off 282 balls, cracking 22 boundaries along the way, while Moonsamy backed him up brilliantly with an unbeaten 128 off 167 balls, featuring 19 fours and three sixes, and they now take a 67-run lead into the third days play after bowling the Dolphins out for 293.

The Titans started the days final session on 214/5 with Elgar and Moonsamy kicking on in style as they took their sixth wicket partnership past the 100 and 200 run marks while cruising past 350 on the scoreboard.

Just when it looked like they would end the day in a great position they suffered a blow just 12 balls before the end of play as Marques Ackerman had Elgar caught by Bradley Porteous to leave them on 355/6.

Moonsamy and Aya Gqamane (5no) will now hope to build a good partnership when they resume the third morning and extend the Titans lead.

In the post lunch session the Titans resumed their first innings on 123/3, with Elgar and Sibonelo Makhanya (11) extending their fourth wicket partnership to 33 runs before the Dolphins hit them with a double strike.

Ottneil Baartman trapped Makhanya LBW and then bowled Donovan Ferreira for a fourth ball duck in the same over to reduce them to 146/5.

That brought Moonsamy in to join Elgar and they batted their side past the 200 run mark and Elgar to his century, as they reached the tea break in a strong position.

Earlier in the day the Titans innings got off to a difficult start as Clifford Isaacs fell for a 20 ball duck, caught by Andile Simelane off the bowling of Okuhle Cele with the score 15/1.

Dewald Brevis (8) and Elgar were on course to take their side to lunch, sharing in a 27-run stand, but a few overs before the break Brevis was bowled by Cele, leaving Makhanya to accompany Elgar to the break.

The day began with the Dolphins resuming their first innings on 275/7 with Porteous (57) and Simelane (12) at the crease.

But after adding just 14 runs to the total the Dolphins lost their last three wickets for four runs, with Gqamane removing Porteous and Merrick Brett accounting for Simelane and Cele (4).
