North West Dragons were unable to reproduce the batting fluency that carried them in their previous outing, slumping to 167 for 8 in 42 overs against the Momentum Multiply Titans in their CSA 1 Day Cup match in SuperSport Park. The Titans won the toss and opted to field, striking immediately when Meeka eel Prince fell in the opening over.
Once again it was captain Wihan Lubbe who carried the innings. He counter attacked superbly for 67 off 65 balls, striking seven fours and two sixes, and steadying the Dragons after they slipped to 14 for 2 under sustained pressure from Dayyaan Galiem and Duan Jansen. Janneman Malan offered support with a patient 31 from 77 deliveries, but the innings never fully recovered its rhythm as wickets continued to fall.
Lubbe’s dismissal -bowled by Neil Brand -triggered another slide, leaving only Dominic Hendricks to offer meaningful resistance. Hendricks was unbeaten on 26 from 49 balls when rain arrived, bringing a lengthy delay and halting any hopes of a late surge. At 167 for 8, the Dragons will rely heavily on conditions and early breakthroughs to stay competitive once play resumes, should they get to bat again,
