The Pakistan women won the toss and chose to bowl first in the opening one-day international against the Proteas women at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
Morning rain saw the toss delayed, and in the end, the match was reduced to a 41-over-a-side affair, with the game starting two and a half hours after originally scheduled.
The Proteas will be looking to get off to a good start and bounce back from their heavy defeat in the third and final T20I earlier this week, although they clinched that series 2-1, and they will be aiming to triumph in the ODI series as well.
Pakistan will be eager to build on their success in the third T20I, after they had lost the first two, and get off to a solid start in the three-match ODI series.
The game is also the start of the ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) cycle, which serves as the qualification pathway to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2029, so both teams will be eager to pick up points towards that.
