LIONS v TUSKERS
Johannesburg: Wiaan Mulder put his all-round skills on display, registering a century and taking another five-wicket haul, to draw the DP World Lions closer to victory in their CSA 4-Day Series match against the Moothee Ram Tuskers at the Wanderers on Tuesday.
The Tuskers, who won the toss and chose to bowl first, crumbled for 63 runs in the first innings.
The Lions replied with a mammoth 558-5d, before limiting the visitors to 177-7 at the close of play.
The Tuskers trail the hosts by 316 runs with three wickets in hand and had Matthew Urquhart (14*) in the middle.
Mulder added 111 runs to his overnight score on his way to a brisk 115 from 111 balls.
This is his 15th first-class century and he faced 102 deliveries to reach the milestone. He shared a 154-run fourth-wicket partnership with Wandile Makwetu (89) and then added a brisk 77 runs from 49 balls with Connor Esterhuizen.
Esterhuizen, who finished the innings unbeaten on 101 from 58 balls, shared an unbroken 83-run sixth-wicket stand with Delano Potgieter (28*). This is Esterhuizen’s fourth first-class century and he faced 58 balls to get there.
After his heroics with the bat, Mulder registered his second five-wicket haul of the match to finish the day with five wickets for 27 runs in 10.5 overs.
This is also his fifth first-class five-wicket haul. Bjorn Fortuin and Nqaba Peter took a wicket each.
DOLPHINS v WARRIORS
Durban: Senuran Muthusamy and Gideon Peters joined forces to push the Hollywoodbets Dolphins onto the back foot and help the Dafabet Warriors take control of their contest at Kingsmead.
Muthusamy struck an impressive 113 from 144 balls to help the Warriors reach 380 after they were asked to bat first by the hosts.
Peters then bagged a four-wicket haul to help the visitors restrict the Dolphins to 249-8 at stumps.
The hosts, who trail the Warriors by 131 runs with two wickets in hand, had Nqobani Mokoena (1*) and Tim Saulez (0*) in the middle.
Muthusamy’s impressive knock was ended by Tristan Luus, who had a fruitful outing with the ball for the Dolphins.
The pacer was the Dolphins’ best bowler with five wickets for 77 runs in 20.3 overs. This is Luus’s second first-class five-wicket haul.
Gideon Peters was the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors with four wickets for 67 runs in 12 overs.
He had support from Muhammad Manack, who took two wickets for three runs in two overs, while Kerwin Mungroo and Patrick Kruger took a wicket each.
WESTERN PROVICE v TITANS
Cape Town: Rivaldo Moonsamy and Lhuan-dre Pretorius scored half-centuries to help the Momentum Multiply Titans wrestle control of the encounter from WSB Western Province at Newlands.
The pair’s half-centuries helped the visitors to reach 281-7 at stumps.
The Titans were replying to Western Province’s first-innings score of 241.
The Titans lead the visitors by 40 runs with three wickets in hand. They had Duan Jansen (22*) and Junior Dala (1*) at the crease at the close of play.
Pretorius was the first to push the Titans forward with a 76-ball 56. This is the 19-year-old’s sixth first-class half-century.
Moonsamy, who shared a brief 26-run fifth-wicket partnership with Pretorius, spurred the visitors on with a patient 90 from 192 balls. This is his 24th first-class half-century.
Dane Paterson and Beuran Hendricks finished the day with two wickets each; however, Hendricks, who conceded 77 runs in 20 overs, had a slightly better economy rate compared to Paterson, who allowed 66 runs in 17 overs.
BOLAND v DRAGONS
Paarl: Aviwe Mgijima clinched a five-wicket haul to help Goldrush Boland stay in the contest against the Eastvaal Renault Dragons at Boland Park.
Mgijima, who took five wickets for 97 runs in 26.4 overs, helped the hosts bowl the Dragons out for 434.
Boland were on 211-3 at stumps in their reply. The hosts had Lehan Botha (64*) and Jhedli van Briesies (17*) in the middle at the close of play.
They trail the visitors by 223 runs with seven wickets in hand.
Dian Forrester added 79 runs to his overnight score as he compiled a well-paced unbeaten century.
He finished the innings with 123 runs from 188 balls. This is his third first-class century and he faced 158 deliveries to reach the milestone..
Blayde Capell led Boland’s reply with a steady 128-ball 77. His innings provided a platform for Lehan Botha to come in and build from.
Botha and Van Briesies had shared an unbroken 71-run fourth-wicket partnership at the close of play.
Lesiba Ngoepe used eight bowlers against Boland on day two and only one of them found success; Caleb Seleka.
The spinner was the sole wicket-taker for the Dragons with three wickets for 65 runs in 19 overs.
