Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on two-time winners Mumbai Indians in the opening match of India's Women's Premier League (WPL) in January, the country's cricket board said on Wednesday.
The fifth edition of the tournament will take place from January 14 to February 7, with the first 11 matches to be played in Vadodara before moving to Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium for the remaining 11 fixtures, including the title clash, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said.
The WPL, first staged in 2023, has delivered the Indian cricket board roughly $700 million in franchise and media rights.
The deals made the WPL the world's second-most valuable women's sports league after WNBA basketball in the United States.
