The Proteas women won the toss and chose to bowl first in the opening match of their ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) one-day international series against the New Zealand White Ferns at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday.
The Proteas will be desperate to get off to a good start in the 50-over series, after they were completely outplayed in the five match T20I series, going down 4-1.
They will thus be eager to turn things around and get themselves off to a winning start, to give themselves a chance of triumphing in the three match ODI series over the coming week.
