Potchefstroom: Wihan Lubbe and Bryce Parsons, the captains of the Eastvaal Renault Dragons and the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, shook hands late on Tuesday afternoon after their contest at the JB Marks Oval was declared a draw.
The first two days of the encounter, Saturday and Sunday, were written off due to a wet outfield.
The Dragons, who won the toss and chose to bowl first, restricted the Dolphins to 274 runs. The hosts then replied with a total of 335-8.
The Dragons’ No 3 batter, Diego Rosier, produced the best performance of the match with a steady 146 from 263 balls.
The seasoned campaigner put his experience on full display as he batted through 87.4 overs. He was part of the Dragons’ highest partnership, a 109-run fourth-wicket stand with Lubbe (48).
Nqobani Mokoena showed that he wasn’t just a bowler with a valiant half-century to help the Dolphins reach a decent total.
The 19-year-old registered his maiden first-class half-century, a well-played 92-ball 72 from the No 9 position.
