The DP World Lions won the toss and elected to bowl first in their CSA One-Day Challenge match against WSB Western Province at the DP World Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions come into this contest buoyed by their recent success in the CSA 4-Day Series, where they claimed the title for the third year running. While the formats and skills required for success are different, Russell Domingo’s side will be hoping to use their recent title run as inspiration in their One-Day Challenge campaign.
The hosts did not have a great campaign last season. They managed just two wins in seven outings on their way to a sixth place finish. They also lost four matches, while another was a no-result.
Western Province, on the other hand, had a worse 2024-25 season than the Lions. The men from Cape Town suffered six losses and claimed a single win in a disastrous campaign. They will be hoping that their players perform better this season. Victory over the Lions at Wanderers will be a wonderful way to start their campaign.
