February will shine the light on South African women’s cricket as the Hollywoodbets Pro Series resumes this weekend with fixtures across the country.
This month will also see Proteas Women take on Pakistan in a limited-overs inbound tour from 10 February - 01 March.
There is plenty at stake in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 competition; Garden Route Badgers Women travel to Cape Town to face World Sports Betting Western Province at WSB Newlands.
Meanwhile, Fidelity Titans welcome the North West Dragons to SuperSport Park in Centurion.
Badgers will once again look to their in-form right-handed batter Julia Hoal, who currently tops the run-scoring charts for the Garden Route side.
Hoal announced herself earlier in the season with an unbeaten maiden century (105*) against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in October, sharing a record-breaking unbroken third-wicket partnership of 151 runs with Izel Cilliers.
Badgers currently occupy third place on the Pro50 standings with 14 points, just five points behind log leaders, DP World Lions.
TITANS WELCOME DRAGONS
In Centurion, Titans will be eager to pull away from the bottom of the log after managing just two wins from five matches so far. They host a Dragons side still searching for their first victory of the season, having lost all five of their matches to date.
Attention then shifts to the Hollywoodbets Pro20 on Sunday, where Claire Terblanche’s Western Province side will be looking to pull clear at the top of the table. Province are currently level with the Lions on 23 points but crucially have a game in hand.
Leading the charge for the Cape side is Faye Tunnicliffe, who has been in outstanding form with the bat, topping the run charts with 306 runs after five matches.
The WSB Newlands outfit remain firmly focused on defending their T20 title as they once again take on the Badgers. Tunnicliffe will draw confidence from her commanding 110 off 65 balls against the Titans earlier this season, a performance that powered Western Province to a convincing 62-run victory.
With the ball, Nosipho Vezi has been equally influential, currently sitting third on the wicket-takers’ list with seven scalps, while Badgers fast bowler Zintle Kula will hope to extend her competition-leading tally of 10 wickets when the sides meet in Cape Town.
Back in Centurion, the Titans will be hoping to finally register their first T20 win of the season after enduring a tough run of four losses and one draw, while the Dragons currently find themselves in a stronger position, sitting fourth on the log.
