The Hollywoodbets Dolphins were on top of the North West Dragons at the close of play on day two of their Division One CSA 4-Day match in Durban, while weather continued to disrupt games.
The Dafabet Warriors and Momentum Multiply Titans saw most of their day washed out by rain in Gqeberha, while the DP World Lions were in a strong position against the Gbets Rocks in Paarl.
DOLPHINS IN CHARGE AGAINST DRAGONS
The Hollywoodbets Dolphins were firmly in charge of their Division One CSA 4-Day clash against the North West Dragons after they reduced the visitors to 166/9 at the close of play on day two at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead on Monday.
The Dragons still trail the Dolphins' first-innings score by 182 runs and will be desperate to try add some late-innings runs to their total on day three, before the Dolphins bat again.
After tea the Dragons resumed their first innings in a spot of bother on 106/5, with JP King (33) and Khanya Cotani (21) extending their sixth-wicket stand to 57 runs.
The wicket of King, caught behind by keeper Grant Roelofsen off the bowling of Jon Jon Smuts, saw the Dragons then lose four wickets for 27 runs as they tumbled to 157/9.
Cotani and Juan James (2) were both caught behind off the bowling of Prenelan Subrayen and Smuts respectively, while Duan Jansen (15) was bowled by Smuts.
This left Eldred Hawken (3no) at the crease with Renaldo Meyer (8no) when rain came down to cut the day's play short.
Earlier in the day the Dragons resumed after lunch on 41/1, but soon slipped to 53/3 when Grant Mokoena (27) was caught by Roelofsen off the bowling of Subrayen, followed by Shaylin Pillay (7) being bowled by Odirile Modimokoane.
Christopher Britz (3) and Wesley Marshall (12) also didn’t last long with both batters caught off the bowling of Subrayen and Smuts respectively with them falling to 73/5, before King and Cotani took their side to tea.
In the morning the Dolphins were only able to add 26 runs to their overnight score of 322/7, with them all out for 348.
The day started with an early double strike as Hawken trapped Subrayen (3) LBW and bowled Modimokoane for a first-ball duck as the Dolphins slipped to 326/9.
Overnight centurion Jason Smith (136) was joined by Daryn Dupavillon (6no) and they added 22 for the last wicket, with Smith out LBW to King.
Hawken was the pick of the visiting bowing attack with figures of 4-34, while King backed him up well with 3-100.
The Dragons' first innings got off to a shaky start when opener Lesego Senokwane (8) was caught by Smuts off the bowling of Subrayen, leaving them on 15/1, before Mokoena and Pillay guided them to the lunch break without further trouble.

RAIN PLAYS HAVOC WITH WARRIORS-TITANS MATCH
Poor weather continued to play havoc with the Dafabet Warriors and Momentum Multiply Titans Division One CSA 4-Day match at St George’s Park on Monday, with the hosts finishing the day on 150/3 at the close of play.
The teams were chased off the field shortly after lunch with the Warriors on 149/3, with them only getting on for a brief moment where one run was added before rain and bad light combined to end play for the day.
Matthew Breetzke (67no) and Sinethemba Qeshile (25no) will resume in the morning on day three, with the chances of a result in the game fading fast, especially if there are any further delays in the match.
Earlier in the day the Warriors reached lunch on 133/3 after a delayed start to play.
On Sunday’s first day just 32 overs were possible, with the Warriors reaching stumps in trouble on 90/3, although they are probably four down as Rudi Second (10no) had to retire hurt after being hit in the head by an Aya Gqamane bouncer, with him unlikely to return in the match.
They resumed on Monday morning with Breetzke stroking his way to a solid half century, while extending his partnership with Sinethemba Qeshile to 58 runs at the break.

LIONS IN STRONG POSITION AGAINST ROCKS
The DP World Lions were in a very strong position in their Division One CSA 4-Day match against the Gbets Rocks at the close of play on day two, sitting on 315/5 in their first innings after a number of half centuries.
Joshua Richards (84), Reeza Hendricks (67) and Mitchell van Buuren (73no) all went past 50, as they looked to set their side up for a top first-innings score.
Resuming after tea on 107/1, Richards and Hendricks extended their second-wicket partnership to 88 runs.
Richards was then caught by Janneman Malan off the bowling of Shaun von Berg, followed shortly by Kagiso Rapulana for an eighth-ball duck, caught and bowled by Von Berg, as the Lions slipped to 176/3.
Hendricks and Van Buuren shared in a 40-run stand for the fourth wicket, with Hendricks bowled by Bamanye Xenxe.
Connor Esterhuizen (37) joined Van Buuren and they combined for a 78-run partnership, before Hardus Viljoen had Esterhuizen caught by Hlomla Hanabe with the score on 294/5.
Bjorn Fortuin (9no) and Van Buuren took their side to the close in a strong position, and they will look to build a good partnership on the morning of day three.
Earlier in the day the Lions got off to a flyer after the two teams finally got on the field.
Day one of the match was completely washed out, followed by the morning session of day two also beset by poor weather, leading to an early lunch.
The Lions won the toss and decided to bat, with openers Richards and Dominic Hendricks (34) getting them off to a strong start, sharing 85 runs for the first wicket at just under four runs an over.
Hendricks was the only wicket of the session to fall, caught by Stiaan van Zyl off the bowling of Von Berg.
This brought Reeza Hendricks in and along with Richards, who brought up his half century, took the Lions to lunch in a good position.
