Flexbrands Knights secured the Division 2 4 Day Series title after their final against Eastern Storm ended in a draw at the Mangaung Oval, as Gihahn Cloete's double century led the way.
The left-handed Cloete struck a formidable 210 off 367 deliveries that helped the Knights into a dominant position in their first innings.
Patrick Botha added 96 as the pair put together 189 for the second wicket.
Eastern Storm were first to bat but struggled to build sustained partnerships against a disciplined Knights attack, eventually being dismissed for 277 in the first innings.
Dewan Marais produced the most significant resistance with a determined unbeaten 62 from 161 deliveries, while Jurie Snyman contributed 44 at the top of the order.
Chris Britz added 34, but regular wickets prevented Eastern Storm from establishing real control of the match.
The Knights’ bowling unit shared the workload effectively. Malusi Siboto was the standout, claiming 4-54, with Dane Piedt providing strong support through a three-wicket haul and figures of 3-82.
Tiaan van Vuuren, Sithembile Langa and Ross Boast also chipped in with key breakthroughs as the Storm innings stalled after early promise.
In reply, Knights seized the initiative with a commanding batting display, piling up 479 and establishing a decisive first-innings advantage.
Contributions came throughout the order, with Cloete's double ton the stand-out performance for the home side. Isaac Dikgale and Cloete combined for a significant opening stand of 143 before Botha joined Cloete.
Ross Boast (28) and Tiaan van Vuuren (23) helped put the game beyond the grasp of the Storm.
The Benoni-based side's bowlers toiled hard but found sustained pressure difficult to maintain as the Knights steadily accumulated runs and time at the crease.
Tumelo Simelane was the pick of the Storm attack with 4-91, while Chris Britz also struck twice taking 2-15, but the Knights’ depth with the bat ensured the hosts remained in control.
With time running out in the match, Eastern Storm were unable to force a result and the contest concluded in a draw, confirming log leaders, Flexbrands Knights, as the Division 2 4 Day Series champions.
The result capped a strong campaign for the Knights, whose consistency with both bat and ball throughout the final reflected the form that carried them to the title.
