Fifteen-year-old boy wonder Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed eight sixes in an unbeaten 60 in 20 balls to blast the Rajasthan Royals to 80 without loss in the power play in the Tata IPL Eliminator against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in New Chandigarh on Wednesday.
Sunrisers may regret putting Royals into bat as Sooryavanshi took his IPL six-hitting tally to 61 so far, a record haul in the IPL beating Chris Gayle’s 59.
The classy Yashasvi Jaiswal enjoyed the best seat in the house as he watched Sooryavanshi blast away, but he was able to strike some fine boundaries himself in a match where the victors go on to Qualifier 2 on Friday while the losers go home.
