Having put together an event with big hitters and strike bowlers, the SuperSport commentary team assembled for the all-new Betway SA20 is similarly known for its heavyweight calibre.
Former superstars like AB de Villiers, Herschelle Gibbs and Kevin Pietersen supplement a well balanced 16-strong team that draws from an array of countries, namely South Africa, Pakistan, England, Australia, Zimbabwe, England, and West Indies.
There are three women among them, all steeped in cricket experience. SA’s Kass Naidoo will be joined by former Pakistan captain Urooj Mumtaz and prominent Pakistan television personality Zainab Abbas.
In a significant coup, recently departed Proteas coach Mark Boucher will also be behind the microphone. As coach of IPL giants Mumbai Indians, he has a well-developed sense for the nuances of T20 cricket.
Other members of the commentary line-up are Mark Nicholas, Darren Gough, Pommie Mbangwa, Darren Sammy, Shaun Pollock, Vernon Philander, Chris Morris, Ashwell Prince, and Mike Haysman.
“We’ve pulled together a group that reflects the status of SA20, and the need to tell a fabulous South African story,” said Vukile Majola, head of cricket for SuperSport. “They each bring a style all their own and well suited to the explosive nature of T20 with its in-built entertainment.”
Beginning 10 January, SA20 is set to thrill local and international cricket fans and attract new audiences of all ages.
Thirty-three matches will be played over four weeks with every minute broadcast live on SuperSport.
