Will Jacks' fiery half-century and Wayne Parnell's three wickets helped steer Pretoria Capitals to a 52-run bonus point victory against MI Cape Town in their Betway SA20 encounter at Newlands on Monday.
Chasing 183 to win at a sell-out Newlands, MI Cape Town lost wickets at regular intervals and was restricted to 130 all out in 18.1 overs.
Eathan Bosch struck early as Ryan Rickelton got a leading edge to mid-off.
Teen sensation Dewald Brevis stood tall for the home side as he shared a 34-run partnership with Sam Curran (22) and then a 47-run partnership with Rassie van der Dussen.
Brevis smashed 46 off 30 balls (hitting four fours and three sixes) before he tried to go big but top-edged to extra cover off the bowling of Anrich Nortje.
A mini-collapse occurred shortly after Brevis' departure as Jacks got the wicket of George Linde for six and Rashid saw the back of Grant Roelofsen (4).
Van der Dussen struggled to get going with the bat and eventually fell for 24 off 25 balls as he was trapped lbw by Parnell.
Parnell then blew Odean Smith's off-stump for one and Anrich Nortje struck twice, dismissing Rashid Khan for two and Jofra Archer for one.
Parnell got his third when he bowled Kagiso Rabada for one as the Capitals won with a bonus point win.
Earlier on, Jacks scored a fiery half-century as his side posted a competitive 182 for eight.
MI Cape Town had two early missed opportunities, with Rashid Khan dropping Mendis for a duck off the bowling of George Linde as MI Cape Town's skipper juggled a comfortable catch at cover.
The following over, Jacks was dropped for one in the deep off the bowling of Kagiso Rabada by Rassie van der Dussen.
The duo made the home side pay for their mistakes by putting on an 88-run opening stand.
Khan made up for his drop catch with the ball as he got the breakthrough of Mendis for 29 off 19 balls (hitting four fours and a six).
Mendis (29) slogged the ball, with Ryan Rickelton catching and flicking the ball just before going over the boundary, which resulted in Linde taking a catch from inside.
West Indian Odean Smith was brought into the attack and struck as he dismissed the settled Jacks, who edged behind to keeper Grant Roelofsen. Jacks departed for a blistering 62 off 27 balls (hitting five fours and five sixes).
Khan then trapped an out-of-form Rilee Rossouw lbw for one. Jofra Archer struck in his second over as he got Senuran Muthusamy to get a fine edge behind for three.
Theunis de Bruyn and Clyde Fortuin put on a 32-run stand before Khan captured his third wicket.
Khan went wide as Fortuin reached out and dragged the ball onto his stumps to be bowled out for 11.
Archer got the vital wicket of De Bruyn after the batter flicked it to short fine leg for 36 off 25 balls (hitting two fours and two sixes).
Two balls later, Archer then got skipper Wayne Parnell caught at deep square leg for one.
Eathan Bosch top-edged the ball to Rickelton at mid-on to depart for seven, but it was Jimmy Neesham's handy unbeaten 22 that took the Pretoria Capitals to a competitive 182 for eight.
