The Gujarat Titans entrenched their position at the top of the Indian Premier League table with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over the Chennai Super Kings.
Set 134 for victory after Mohammad Shami had contained the Super Kings during their batting effort, the Titans comfortably chased it down with five balls remaining.
The bedrock of the Titans chase was opener Wriddhiman Saha with an undefeated 67 off 57 balls (8x4, 1x6). Proteas slugger David Miller (15 not out) was at the crease with Saha as Titans cruised home.
The table-toppers were never in any danger of not overhauling the Super Kings target with Saha and opening partner Shubman Gill providing a positive start. The pair posted 59 in just seven overs before Gill (18 off 17 balls, 3x4) was trapped LBW by Matheesha Pathirana.
No momentum was lost, though, with Australia's T20 World Cup hero Matthew Wade joining Saha at the crease. Another positive partnership of 31 runs for the second wicket took the Titans to the brink of victory.
And even though Wade (20) and captain Hardik Pandya (7) fell in quick succession to Moeen Ali and Pathirana, Miller and Saha ensured there would be no further surprises.
The Titans were certainly well deserved victors after Shami (2/19) produced a bowling masterpiece earlier in the day. The Super Kings only reply was Ruturaj Gaikwad's 53 off 49 balls, but they could not create any momentum during their innings to put the Titans under any real pressure.
