Former St Charles College pupil and Sweetwaters Hub graduate Ntando Zuma has been selected for the South Africa Under-19 squad for the upcoming ICC Under 19 Men's Cricket World Cup set to be hosted in South Africa next year.
The young Zuma, who has already represented the Tuskers Colts side, will graduate to the AET Tuskers senior squad at the conclusion of his World Cup duties, however his past is another shining example of talent identification.
Hailing from the Sweetwaters township in Pietermaritzburg, Zuma was a part of the Sweetwaters Hub before being identified and given a bursary to St Charles College where he has thrived and been a stand-out performer throughout.
He's represented KZN Inland Schools teams all the way through his high school career and will represent the KZN Inland U19 side at the upcoming Khaya Majola Week.
CEO of KZN Inland Cricket Jason Sathiaseelan is full of praise for the youngster and is looking forward to seeing how he progresses.
"We are indeed proud of Ntando Zuma’s selection having watched him develop as a Sweetwaters Hub player," Sathiaseelan said. "Ntando has already played for the Tuskers Colts team, and we are looking forward to having him in the AET Tuskers squad on completion of his World Cup duties.
"As a talented wicketkeeper/batter he's a player that we are eager to see develop and we wish him all the very best for the upcoming U19 World Cup."
The SA U19 side will be in Group B with England, Scotland and the West Indies starting next month.
Before that, Zuma will represent KZN Inland Under-19 at the Khaya Majola Week in Mkhanda from 16-20 December.
