Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Kuda Mahachi is in a race against time to be fit for the club’s crunch Absa Premiership clash against Cape Town City on May 4.

The Zimbabwe international sat out Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United with an adductor strain, and will now go through a rehabilitation process to be ready to face City.

After a slow start to the campaign since his move from Lamontville Golden Arrows, Mahachi has become more influential in recent months, but has been missing since the 0-0 draw with title rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on April 1.

Pirates have also confirmed that goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane is being treated fior a sprained finger, with no time-frame placed on his return.

Pirates currently have a three-point lead over Sundowns at the top of the Premiership, but have played a game more.

Their clash with City will be their penultimate of the season, though they will not be able to confirm their trophy win that day with Sundowns still to feature in two games afterwards.
