Pirates confirm the arrival of six new players
Orlando Pirates have confirmed the signing of six new players, including three from Bloemfontein Celtic after a raid on the cash-strapped club.
Winger Kabelo Dlamini, left-back Bongani Sam and attacking midfielder Tshegofatso Mabasa have all arrived from Siwelele, adding to the options of coach Micho Sredojevic.
Other players confirmed by Pirates on Monday are the Maritzburg United duo of midfielders Fortune Makaringe and Siphesihle Ndlovu, and Chippa United left-sided defender Tebogo Tlolane.
"All players underwent medicals last week with the rest of the squad to establish their readiness for the pre-season schedule that the technical team has prepared," the club said in a statement.
"Strengthening of the squad has been the No 1 priority for the administrative office in anticipation of yet another gruelling season. The six players will start training with the team as pre-season officially kicks off this afternoon (Monday)."
Pirates have finished runners-up in the Absa Premiership in the last two seasons and are looking to break the stranglehold of Mamelodi Sundowns on the league title in 2019-20.
