Ethiopia Coffee, Hadiya Hosaena jostle for Addis Ababa City Cup

Ethiopia Coffee and Hadiya Hossana will fight for the Addis Ababa Cup title on Thursday after both advanced to the finals.

The 17th Addis Ababa City Cup has produced not just entertainment for the fans but also some fireworks and some indicator of what to expect in the new season of the BetKing Ethiopia Premier League.

In the first semifinals, Yohannes Sahile's Hadiya Hosanna beat Ethiopian Insurance on Penality Kicks after a goalless draw.

Hadiya Hossana won the tie 5-3 on Penalties to advance to the finals against a highly impressive Ethiopian Insurance side who shone brightly throughout the tournament.

In the second semifinals, which was of course, the "Sheger derby" featuring St George up against Ethiopia Coffee, the intense battle also failed to produce a winner.

St George scored first in the 13th minute through Haron Anter, but it took Ethiopia Coffee a further 13 minutes to find an equalizer through Woldeamanuel Getu on 26 minutes

The game finished 1-1 and went to Penalties with Ethiopia Coffee dispatching all 5 of their Kicks, with St George missing one, giving Ethiopia Coffee a 5-4 win.

For the third Saint George will play with Ethiopia Insurance as Ethiopia Coffee and Hadiya Hosaena for the title

Both games will be played at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in the Capital, Addis Ababa.
