Mali hammered South Sudan 4-0 in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualification Group G match at Stade du 26 Mars on Friday night.

Therefore, the Eagles finished their qualifying campaign with a win and they qualified for the 2023 Afcon finals having impressively collected 15 points from a possible 18 from six matches.

South Sudan, on the other hand, finished fourth in the Group G standings having accumulated just three points from six matches and their wait to qualify for the Afcon finals continues.

It took just 10 minutes for the Eagles to break the deadlock as Ibrahima Kone hit the back of the net to hand Mali a 1-0 lead with goalkeeper Majak Mawith well-beaten.

The hosts doubled their lead a minute before the half-hour mark when Nene Dorgeles set up Kamory Doumbia who found the back of the net and Mali were leading 2-0 during the halftime break.

Doumbia grabbed his brace 12 minutes into the second-half as the 20-year-old beat Mawith with a decent finish to make it 3-0 to Mali with Amadou Dante providing the assist.

The Bright Stars defence was struggling to contain the Eagles' attackers and they conceded again when Dorgeles netted in the 82nd minute after being set up by Yves Bissouma - sealing Mali's 4-0 victory.
