Comoros out to shock confident Ivory Coast

Comoros will battle with Ivory Coast in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualification Group H match at the Stade Omnisports de Malouzini in Moroni on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 9pm CAT (SA, GMT+2).

Les Coelacantes succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Ivory Coast away on Friday and they are winless in their last two matches in the Afcon Qualifiers.

Comoros are placed third on the group standings - four points behind second-placed Ivory Coast who have already qualified for the finals as tournament hosts.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast remain undefeated in Group H having recorded two wins and one draw, and they are also unbeaten in their last seven games in the Afcon qualifiers.

The Elephants still have a chance of winning the group as they are two points leaders, Zambia who have played an extra game.

Comoros and Ivory Coast have no suspensions concerns coming into this match, and they are yet to report any injuries.

WHAT WAS SAID

Comoros head coach Younes Zerdouk:

“We were up against players whose level is very high and are experienced. But we learned a lot today," Zerdouk told CAF Online after the game.

"There are 12 points left in the group and there is everything to fight for especially in the next game when we play at home. We will fight to get a good result."

Ivory Coast head coach Jean-Louis Gasset:

“We are a work in progress. When I came in, the confidence in the group was average," Gasset said.

"They are young players and they are growing. Today I was happy with the performance and happy to see an active team that kept working without the ball."
