Comoros draft in two more new names

Comoros Islands have named two more players from their growing list of footballers from the Diaspora for two friendlies this month when they travel to Tunisia to take on their hosts plus play against Libya.

The 22-year-old Yacine Bourhane comes from French second division side Niort, where he has spent his entire career, and the 20-year-old Faïz Mattoir, who recently made his first debut at another Ligue 2 outfit AC Ajaccio.

Rafidine Abdullah, Salim Ben Boina and Younn Zahary are all making their return to the squad after missing last November’s upset win in Togo and home draw with Egypt at the start of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

With Covid-19 restrictions, the team’s two English-0based players, captain Nadjim Abdou and defender Fouad Bachirou,

The Comoros first meet hosts Tunisia in Tunis on Thursday October 8 and then Libya three days later, also in Tunis.

Coach Amirdine Abdou is using the two matches to prepare his side for the key Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header home and away against Kenya next month.

Ibroihim Youssouf from Volcan Club is the only home-based player in the 22-man squad.
