Following their glowing performances in the DStv Diski Challenge, Kaizer Chiefs duo Mduduzi Shabalala [midfielder] and Bontle Molefe [goalkeeper] have attracted interest from Belgium clubs.
The club announced on Tuesday that Shabalala has already left the country and is on trials with Jupiler Pro champions KVC Westerlo, the club where another Diski Challenge graduate, Lyle Foster, is currently playing.
Mofokeng will follow Shabalala on Thursday to join Royal Antwerp.
"Shabalala attracted interest from KVC Westerlo, a Club in the B Division of the Belgian League after a tremendous season with the Chiefs reserve team," Chiefs said in a statement.
Shabalala has been rising to stardom since he grabbed headlines at the 2020 Under-17 Cosafa Cup, where he was voted player of the tournament.
This season, Shabalala scored more than nine goals in the Diski Challenge. He has proven to be one of the Chiefs' key players.
In January, Shabalala took part in the DStv Compact Cup after being voted for by the fans and was given much praise by coaches such as Dylan Kerr of Swallows FC.
The club statement added: "Shabalala will spend two weeks in Belgium before returning to South Africa for a few days. He will then fly out to Spain after being named player of the tournament in the Cosafa Cup."
Chiefs Diski Challenge goalkeeper Molefe will follow Shabalala later and is expected to leave the country this Thursday.
He will spend a month with Royal Antwerp FC, a First Division A club in Belgium.
If they impress and earn overseas contracts, the duo will join the long list of players that came from Diski and were signed by overseas clubs such as Liam Jordan and Rowan Human, to mention a few.
