The Premier Soccer League transfer window is still open for a little over a week though movement between clubs has largely come to a halt as teams did their business before the season started.
SuperSport United snapped up Siphesihle Ndlovu this week in what has been a rare recent transfer, but there are other players out there who could do with a change of scenery.
SuperSport.com looks at five players who could do with a move.
KERMIT ERASMUS
Bafana Bafana forward Erasmus arrived at Mamelodi Sundowns from Cape Town City with bags of experience having also played in France and the Netherlands. He said he wanted to score 30 goals in his first season in 2020/21. In 43 appearances since then he has scored 10 goals and remains sidelined this campaign. Peter Shalulile did show it was possible though with his 30 goals in the 2021/22 campaign.
ERICK MATHOHO
The veteran centre-back has fallen out of favour at Naturena this season and has had to make do with a couple of bench appearances. It will be tough on a player who has spent the last decade as part of the furniture at Kaizer Chiefs, but at the age of 32 looks as though he has been replaced. He could certainly still do a job in the topflight.
HAPPY JELE
Jele has already made half a move in that he has left Orlando Pirates after 16 years of service as the club’s record-holder in terms of appearances. But he has yet to find a new home despite reported interest from Royal AM. The 35-year-old left The Buccaneers because he felt he had two more seasons in him as a player but seems to be having a tough time persuading others of that.
JODY FEBRUARY
The goalkeeper is now so far down the pecking order at Mamelodi Sundowns it is hard to see him getting a game this campaign. Ronwen Williams, Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene have all appeared in the match day squad ahead of him, while there is also Reyaad Pieterse at the club too. Another loan away from Chloorkop would be best for his continued development.
MONNAPULE SALENG
The promising winger spent last season on loan at Swallows FC and generally did OK for a player who was featuring in the topflight for the first time. But he has managed a single appearance on the bench for Pirates this campaign, with no game-time, and looks to be out of the plans of current coach Jose Riveiro. Like February, he needs to keep playing at this stage of his career, and that does not look like happening at Pirates.
