SuperSport United claimed sweet revenge over Kaizer Chiefs when they secured a 1-0 win in Saturday evening's Betway Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The victory saw Matsatsantsa avenge their 4-0 Carling Knockout defeat to Chiefs and they are now placed eighth in the league standings.

Coach Gavin Hunt's side will be looking to make it two consecutive wins when they take on Golden Arrows away on 30 October.

Amakhosi, on the other hand, recorded their second successive defeat in the league and they are now placed ninth in the standings.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi's side will be away to Magesi FC on 30 October as they look to return to winning ways.

Amakhosi dominated possession from the start with Edson Castillo looking lively, but the Venezuela international had to be substituted after picking up an injury in the 17th minute and he was replaced by Yusuf Maart.

However, Chiefs lost concentration at the back in the 44th minute as Bradley Cross was left without cover in the left flank and Siphesihle Ndlovu delivered a lovely cross which was turned home by Tashreeq Morris.

SuperSport were 1-0 up at halftime.

The Soweto giants pushed for the equalising goal after the restart with Ranga Chivaviro forcing goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa into a save in the 54th minute.

Nabi made tactical changes introducing Njabulo Blom and Mfundo Vilakazi in the 57th minute.

Chiefs had several chances in the latter stages of the match, but they couldn't beat Mbanjwa who denied Vilakazi in the 88th minute.

Ultimately, the match ended in a 1-0 victory in favour of SuperSport who were able to contain Amakhosi on the night.
