TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic is the season’s latest managerial casualty, with his departure from the club confirmed on Thursday after days of intense speculation.
Beganovic leaves a week before Galaxy play in the Nedbank Cup final, but after a horror run in the Betway Premiership, which has seen Galaxy without a win in their last 10 league games, losing nine of them.
They are to take on Durban City in Polokwane on 2 May in the cup final.
The 43-year-old Beganovic was originally assistant to Sead Ramovic and took over when Ramovic left for Tanzania last season.
Beganovic helped Galaxy recover from a slow start to the 2024-25 season to finish in fifth place – the club’s best performance in five seasons in the top flight.
This campaign, they were comfortably in the top eight at the turn of the year but have now slumped to 12th place and are not yet safe from relegation.
Galaxy have 25 points with five games remaining in the Betway Premiership, and this Sunday host Magesi in a vital clash.
Beganovic saw two key players leave in the January transfer window, with Khulumani Ndamane signed by Mamelodi Sundowns and Puso Dithejane joining Chicago Fire.
He has also had to contend with a FIFA transfer ban imposed on Galaxy because they owed players money.
Ramovic, ironically, also left this club this weekend at Chabab Belouizdad of Algeria, who he took to the African Confederation Cup semifinal.
